Why We Built Shibutz

The idea for Shibutz came from watching educators struggle with a process that hadn't changed in decades. Class placement affects everything — friendships, learning outcomes, teacher workload — yet most schools still rely on gut instinct and sticky notes.

We believed technology could do better. Not by replacing educators' judgment, but by giving them better tools to make informed decisions. Shibutz combines algorithmic optimization with teacher expertise, so the final class lists reflect both data and the human understanding that only educators have.

Who We Are

Shibutz was created by Sagui Itay, a software engineer and parent who saw firsthand how much time and energy schools invest in class placement every year. Combining deep technical expertise with a genuine concern for educational equity, Sagui built Shibutz to make fair student placement accessible to every school.
