Exporting to Excel
Exporting to Excel
After reviewing your assignment results, you can download the final class lists as an Excel (XLSX) file. This makes it easy to share placements with teachers, administrators, and other staff.
Downloading Your Results
To export your assignment:
- Navigate to the results page for the assignment you want to export.
- Click the Download Excel button.
- The file will be saved to your device as an
.xlsxfile.
What's Included in the Export
The exported spreadsheet contains:
- Student name— each student's full name.
- Assigned class — the class the student was placed into.
- Gender— the student's recorded gender.
- Scale scores — social, emotional, behavioral, and learning values.
- Origin school/group — the feeder school or group the student belongs to.
All data is organized in a single sheet with clearly labeled columns, so it's ready to use without additional formatting.
Excel Template for Importing Students
Shibutz also supports importing students from an Excel file. The import template follows the same column structure as the export, so you can:
- Download an export to see the expected format.
- Fill in student data in a fresh spreadsheet using the same column headers.
- Upload the file on the Managing Students page to bulk-add students.
This round-trip capability means you can prepare data offline, import it, and then run the assignment — all without manual data entry.
Sharing with Staff and Printing
The exported file is designed to be practical for school workflows:
- Email it — attach the XLSX to an email for teachers and grade-level coordinators.
- Print it — open in Excel or Google Sheets, adjust column widths if needed, and print directly. The single-sheet layout prints cleanly on standard paper.
- Filter by class— use Excel's built-in filter feature to view or print one class at a time.
- Archive it — save a copy of the export for your records. This serves as documentation of how classes were formed for that school year.
For details on how to interpret the data before exporting, see the Understanding Results guide.
